Mini-Job Center's Vacation Calculator Ensures Fair Leave for Irregular Workers
The Mini-Job Center's vacation calculator is assisting those with irregular work schedules in determining their annual leave. The tool ensures that part-time workers, particularly mini-jobbers and mini-jobberesses, receive their entitled vacation days.
The Federal Vacation Act (Bundesurlaubsgesetz) sets the minimum vacation entitlement at 24 working days per year for those working six days a week. For mini-jobbers working fewer days, the calculation is different. If they work fewer than six days, their vacation is calculated by multiplying their weekly workdays by 24 and dividing by 6, or simply multiplying by 4. For example, someone working three days a week would be entitled to 12 vacation days.
The vacation calculator rounds up any odd number of vacation days from half a day. This means that if the calculation results in an odd number, the mini-jobber would receive an extra half day of vacation. Additionally, the minimum vacation regulation can be exceeded if contractually agreed or if full-time employees have a higher entitlement.
The Mini-Job Center's vacation calculator is a useful tool for mini-jobbers and mini-jobberesses to determine their annual leave. It ensures that part-time workers receive their entitled vacation days, even if they work fewer than six days a week. The calculator also accounts for the rounding up of odd numbers of vacation days and the possibility of exceeding the minimum vacation regulation.
