Maruti Suzuki Reports Mixed September Sales: Record Exports, Slower Domestic Sales

Maruti Suzuki India Limited reported a 2.7% increase in total sales for September 2025, reaching 1,89,665 units. This growth was driven by record exports, despite a 8.3% decline in domestic sales.

The utility vehicle segment saw a significant decrease, with sales dropping by 20.9% to 48,695 units. However, the compact car segment performed well, selling 66,882 units, a 10.6% increase from the previous year.

Maruti Suzuki's export success was a key factor in the overall sales growth. The company exported a record 42,204 units in September 2025, a 52.2% jump compared to the same period last year. This all-time monthly high was driven by strong global demand and improved export conditions. The festive season also contributed to this success, with Maruti Suzuki delivering 1,65,000 units during the first eight days of Navratri.

Despite the strong export performance, domestic sales declined by 8.3% year-on-year to 1,35,711 units. This was due to logistical constraints, despite strong retail demand during the festive period. The GST 2.0 reforms, which made cars more affordable, improved customer sentiment but could not offset the logistical challenges.

Maruti Suzuki's September 2025 sales were a mixed bag, with record exports driving overall growth but domestic sales declining due to logistical issues. The company's ability to navigate these challenges and maintain strong sales will be crucial in the coming months.
