Manufacturing processes at KTM's Mattighofen facility are operating at maximum level.

After a challenging period marked by rising debt, component shortages, and operational difficulties, KTM has officially resumed full production at its Mattighofen and Munderfing plants in Austria. The production restart, which began in late July 2025, is currently on a five-day, single-shift schedule.

The focus of this resumption is on the 2026 off-road portfolio, including the EXC and SX ranges, as well as models built on the LC4 platform such as the KTM 690 ENDURO R and SMC R, and Husqvarna 701 Enduro and Supermoto. This strategic emphasis on core competencies in motocross, enduro, and supermoto segments is part of KTM's recovery and growth plans.

The production restart was made possible by the significant financial rescue and restructuring efforts of KTM's longtime Indian partner, Bajaj Auto. Bajaj invested over €800 million (approximately ₹7,200 crore) to stabilize KTM and secure its operations, and is now poised to become KTM's majority shareholder, underscoring a strengthened partnership.

In a statement, KTM CEO Gottfried Neumeister credited the employees' dedication, flexibility, and team spirit for making the restart possible. He also expressed gratitude to the entire KTM family and extended "sincerest thanks" to dealers and partners worldwide for their patience and loyalty during a certain period.

Subscribers to KTM will have access to certain functionalities, including the annual user meeting and the new 450 Rally Replica model, which features the Dakar DNA of the brand. However, no specific updates or details on user meetings for Adventure or Street categories have been reported.

The resumption of production provides KTM with the stability needed to focus on quality, customer proximity, and future development. KTM's official statement also emphasized support for its workforce and dealer networks during this ramp-up phase.

In a positive sign for the future, the off-road range production at KTM has commenced, as announced last week, and the resumption of production operations was announced this week. With the production of its LC4 platform models, including the KTM 690 ENDURO R and the KTM 690 SMC R, KTM has returned to a full-time five-day workweek.

As KTM continues its recovery, it is clear that the brand is committed to its core competencies and to maintaining its position as a leader in the off-road and LC4 segments. With the support of its employees, dealers, and partners, KTM is poised for a strong future.

  1. KTM's financial recovery, initiated by Bajaj Auto's significant investment of €800 million, has allowed the motor manufacturing industry to resume full production, focusing on the 2026 off-road portfolio and LC4 platform models.
  2. The resumed production operations within KTM's Mattighofen and Munderfing plants mark a strategic business decision, as the company strives to maintain its leading position in the off-road and LC4 segments, with a focus on quality, customer proximity, and future development.
