Vietnam has played a significant and multi-dimensional role in ASEAN since joining the bloc in 1995. Over the years, the country has proven to be a proactive and constructive member across the political-security, economic, and socio-cultural pillars.

In the political-security realm, Vietnam is recognised as a pillar of ASEAN solidarity, consensus, and regional resilience.
