Major Drug, Gun Trafficking Ring Dismantled in Brooklyn
An extensive undercover operation, 'Get Sturdy', has resulted in the dismantling of a major drug and gun broker trafficking network in Brooklyn. The year-long investigation, led by NYPD's Narcotics Borough Brooklyn North and the Office of the Special Narcotics Prosecutor, culminated in the arrest of eight individuals, including the alleged ringleader, Dwayne Seales.
The operation, centered on a stretch of Schenectady Avenue between Lincoln Place and Park Place in Crown Heights, saw an undercover officer make 26 purchases over 12 months. These included various firearms and 500 grams of cocaine. Authorities allege that Seales dealt in a mix of dangerous drugs, including fentanyl, heroin, cocaine, tramadol, xylazine, and medetomidine.
Seales, 39, is accused of selling over a pound of narcotics and 20 firearms, including AR-style rifles and handguns with high-capacity magazines. The group sold drugs and guns in local businesses, such as bodegas, a smoke shop, and a Chinese restaurant, with sales totaling over $35,000. The collaboration between the Brooklyn DA's office, NYPD narcotics detectives, wiretap evidence, and search warrants helped secure the indictments. Seales was first arrested in connection with gun broker dealing in 2019.
Seven individuals were arrested on October 1, 2025, during a takedown operation, with firearms and narcotics seized from them. Seales is charged with 28 counts, including criminal sale of a controlled substance and criminal sale of a gun broker in various degrees. Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez praised the partnership that ensured a thorough investigation to dismantle the supply chain.
