Mainz Resident, 76, Falls for Facebook Investment Scam

A 76-year-old resident of Klein-Winternheim has fallen victim to an investment scam via Facebook. The Mainz Police Headquarters warns residents to be cautious of offers that seem too good to be true.

The victim was lured into a fake investment opportunity by a supposed broker on Instagram. They were directed to set up a trading account via WhatsApp and transfer 250 EUR. When the victim tried to withdraw the money, the broker blocked them and became unreachable. The Mainz Police advises that if an offer seems too good to be true, it probably is.
