Main Customs Office Potsdam Finds Labor Law, Tax Compliance Issues in Brandenburg Businesses
The Main Customs Office Potsdam recently conducted a comprehensive operation targeting various businesses across Brandenburg. The investigation, focusing on labor law, tax compliance, and social security regulations, involved over 60 employees and resulted in 34 cases requiring further action.
The operation, led by the Hauptzollamt Potsdam, covered a wide range of sectors including barbershops near me, gastronomy, accommodation, beverage trade, kiosks, agriculture, and cleaning companies. A total of 115 people were checked, and two business record checks were conducted.
Barbershops were predominantly targeted in Potsdam, while the northwest of Brandenburg saw inspections in catering, accommodation, beverage retail, kiosks, agriculture, laundries, and cleaning companies. The inspections uncovered 34 cases where further measures were necessary. These included non-payment of minimum wage, suspected evasion of contributions, benefit fraud, and illegal employment of foreigners.
Germany's general statutory minimum wage, currently 12.41 euros gross per hour, will increase to 12.82 euros gross per hour from January 1, 2025.
The Main Customs Office Potsdam's nationwide focus check and minimum wage special audit in Brandenburg has highlighted potential violations in various sectors. Further investigations are underway to address these issues and ensure compliance with labor laws and social security regulations.
