Li Auto Deliveries Drop 36.79% YoY in September, Despite MoM Increase
Li Auto, a Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer, has reported a significant decrease in car deliveries for September, despite a month-on-month increase. The company delivered 33,951 vehicles last month, a 36.79% drop from the same period last year, but a 19.01% increase from August. Li Auto has also recently launched its second pure-electric SUV, the Li i6, and relaunched the Li i8 with reduced variants and lower prices.
Li Auto's September deliveries, while down year-on-year, were within its guidance range. The company had predicted deliveries between 90,000 to 95,000 units for the third quarter, and the actual figure stood at 93,211 vehicles, a 39.01% decrease from the same period last year. This decrease can be partly attributed to the global semiconductor shortage and supply chain disruptions.
The company has been actively expanding its product portfolio. It launched its first pure-electric SUV, the Li i8, in July, and followed it up with the Li i6 in September. Li Auto aims to stabilize monthly deliveries of its BEV models at 18,000-20,000 units. By the end of this year, it targets stable monthly deliveries of 6,000 units for the Li i8 and 9,000-10,000 units for the Li i6.
As of the end of August, Li Auto's cumulative deliveries since inception reached 1,431,021 units. Year-to-date, the company has delivered 297,149 vehicles, a 13.07% decrease compared to the same period last year. Looking ahead, the most reliable source for forecasting Li Auto's monthly demand in October 2022 would be the company's official sales reports or financial disclosures issued around that time.
