Kenneth L. Myers: A Humble Banking Pioneer

Kenneth L. Myers, born on November 1, 1946, in the small town of Zalma, Missouri, embarked on a remarkable career in banking that spanned several decades.

After graduating from Woodland High School in 1964 and Southeast Missouri State University in 1968 with degrees in Business Administration and Education, Myers began his banking career at the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis.

In 1973, Myers met his wife-to-be, Shirley May, a German teacher, during his tenure at Waterloo High School. The couple married the same year and had a son, Clifford, in 1975.

Myers' first significant role in banking came in 1983 when he was named President, CEO, and Chairman of the Board at Union National Bank. However, detailed information about his role or achievements in banking during this period is not widely available in major public sources.

Myers' military service included tours in San Antonio and South Korea, and he was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in 1971. He spent a year teaching at Hillsboro High School before joining the U.S. Army.

In 2006, Myers returned to banking at Heartland Bank. His second stint in Denver was a crowning achievement in his banking career, partnering with ANB Bank to recover from the 2008 economic crisis. In 2009, he was hired as Chief Corporate Credit Officer at American National Bank in Denver, CO.

Myers stood witness to Clifford's marriage to Varsha de Silva Myers on May 24, 2009. He spent his retirement maintaining and paddling around in his pool. In lieu of flowers, a charitable donation to Youth In Need can be made in memory of Ken Myers.

In his later years, Myers had a rekindled relationship with his brother Franklin. Myers enjoyed closely following financial markets, curating and growing his wine collection.

Myers permanently retired in 2018 and returned to Missouri to be close to his son. Despite the lack of widely available information about his career timeline or achievements in banking, Ken Myers' legacy as a humble banker with humble beginnings continues to inspire.
