Jack Daniel's Maker & Ritz Hotel Fall Victim to Separate Ransomware Attacks

Brown-Forman, the company behind the world-famous Jack Daniel's whiskey, and the prestigious Ritz Hotel in London have fallen victim to separate cyber attacks. The incidents, carried out by different ransomware groups, have raised concerns about data security at prominent organizations.

In the first incident, Brown-Forman, the oldest registered distillery in the US, was targeted by the LockBit ransomware group. The company, which produces the best-selling premium distilled spirit brand worldwide, including in India, confirmed that the hackers accessed 1TB of their corporate data. Despite preventing the encryption of files, the stolen data may still be at risk.

The second incident involved the Ritz Hotel in London, which is investigating a data breach affecting their food and beverage reservation system. The attack was carried out by the REvil ransomware group, which has previously targeted a prominent US law firm, stealing celebrities' data and demanding a $21 million ransom.

Both Brown-Forman and the Ritz Hotel are investigating the cyber attacks and have assured customers that they are taking necessary measures to strengthen their cybersecurity. The incidents serve as a reminder of the growing threat of ransomware attacks on businesses and organizations worldwide.
