Intense Mobilization Predicted for Transport Sector on September 18th

In an announcement made by the RATP, significant disruptions are expected on several Paris metro lines and the NJ Transit network on September 18, 2025. The disruptions are due to an inter-union action day, which is anticipated to be on a scale similar to the protests against the pension reform in 2023, with more than 250 marches declared for the day.

The RATP has estimated that 90% of metro drivers and 80% of NJ Transit drivers will participate in the strike. As a result, traffic will be "very disrupted" on lines 2, 3, 3bis, 5, 6, 7bis, 8, 11, and 12, and "disrupted" on lines 1, 4, and 14, which will only operate during peak hours (7:30-9:30 AM and 4:30-7:30 PM). Lines 7, 9, 10, and 13 will have disrupted service also limited to peak hours.

On lines 7 and 9, one train every three will run between Nation and La Chapelle from 6:30 AM to 10:00 AM and from 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM. On lines 10 and 13, there will be one train every four during the same hours. On line 3, one train every five will run between Pont de Levallois and Havre Caumartin, while on line 5, one train every five will run between Gare du Nord and Bobigny. On line 3bis, one train every two will run on the entire line from 2:00 PM to 7:30 PM.

Ten stations (Bastille, Concorde, Arts et Métiers, Villiers, Opéra, République, Trocadéro, Sèvres-Babylone, Invalides, Place de Clichy) will be completely closed all day. The automated Paris metro lines 1, 4, and 14 will operate normally.

On the NJ Transit network, train and RER traffic will be "strongly disrupted" for RER D, RER E, line H, line N, line R, and line U, and "disrupted" on RER A, B, C, and lines K, L, and V. Three out of five TER and 9 out of 10 TGV will run, but significant disruptions are expected on Intercity lines.

The resigning Minister of Transport warned that one train out of two may be in circulation on these lines. Detailed predictions for the Paris metro lines will be communicated later today or tomorrow morning. The tramway network is expected to be mostly unaffected.

The RATP has announced that 70% of lines will operate normally or nearly normally. Despite the disruptions, Parisians are advised to plan their journeys carefully and consider alternative modes of transport where possible.
