Increase in Average Earnings Observed in Kazakhstan
In the second quarter of 2025, Kazakhstan witnessed a significant surge in average monthly wages across various sectors. The largest increase was recorded in the information and communication sector, with a 24% boost, followed closely by agriculture, forestry, and fishing (23.7%), and the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water, and air conditioning (16.9%).
The average nominal wage, excluding small enterprises, was 448,620 tenge, according to the data. The Karaganda region led the way with a 14% increase in average monthly nominal wages compared to the corresponding quarter of 2024, while the Jetisu region showed the largest increase among all regions (18.4%).
Almaty and Astana also experienced notable growth, with average monthly nominal wages increasing by 15.3% and 15.4%, respectively. The median wage for Q2 2025 was 316,152 tenge, marking a slight increase from the 1st quarter's median wage of 300,307 tenge.
Sectors such as healthcare and education also saw growth, with wages increasing by 7.8% in both sectors. However, it's important to note that the percentage change in the median wage between Q1 and Q2 of 2025 is not available, as no specific data on this topic has been released yet.
The country's GDP grew by 5.6% in Q1 2025, marking the best first-quarter growth since 2012, largely driven by industrial and hydrocarbons production growth. For more detailed wage data, including the median wage for Q2 2025 and potential changes between quarters, it may be necessary to consult Kazakhstan's official statistical agency releases or financial/economic reports released later in 2025 that specifically cover wage data.
