Offenbach Holding GmbH (SOH), a key player in the local economy, has reported an impressive profit increase in 2024, marking the highest value in the past ten years. The municipal utilities, a division of SOH, have also seen a significant surge in applicants, with 19 trainees and dual students joining the team in August 2025, an 80% increase compared to the previous year.
The success of the newly launched personnel marketing campaign by the municipal utilities is credited for the rise in applicants. Meanwhile, the profit increase of 1.5 million euros compared to the previous year is attributed to a combination of factors, including operational efficiency, market strategies, and special effects such as increased interest income.
The total group achieved a surplus of 9.19 million euros, with a turnover of 151.89 million euros and a balance sheet total of 531.60 million euros. The strategy of the municipal utilities focuses on three target dimensions: Profit and local value creation, common good, and environment.
Mayor Dr. Felix Schwenke commended the results, stating that they reflect a long-standing, well-coordinated cooperation between Offenbach Holding GmbH and the municipal utilities. In 2024, the municipal utilities supported associations and initiatives in Offenbach with around 375,000 euros in donations and sponsorships.
Peter Walther, CEO of the municipal utilities, explained that the annual result confirms the effectiveness of their long-term approach to economic and strategic issues. The savings from the reorganization process in the mobility sector exceeded expectations, allowing for the expansion of the public transport offer at the timetable change in December 2024.
SOH's positive financial performance contributes to local budget savings in several ways. By paying taxes, SOH helps fund municipal services and infrastructure projects. Additionally, any investments SOH makes in local initiatives can indirectly contribute to municipal savings by enhancing public services and reducing future costs.
Looking ahead, Dr. Felix Schwenke expects the municipal utilities to continue contributing financially to meeting savings targets in the coming years while maintaining a high level of quality and efficiency. As we await the release of detailed financial reports for 2024 and previous years, it is clear that Offenbach Holding GmbH plays a vital role in the prosperity of Offenbach and its surrounding communities.
