HSBC Asset Management Appoints Karim Ghannam as Global Head of Real Assets and Head of Alternatives
Karim Ghannam has joined HSBC Asset Management (HSBC AM) as the Global Head of Real Assets and Head of Alternatives, effective August 8, 2025. Based in Singapore, Ghannam will report to Joanna Munro, the Chief Executive Officer of Alternatives at HSBC AM.
Ghannam's role at HSBC AM is part of the company's efforts to enhance its real assets platform, providing comprehensive investment solutions to its clients. With alternative investments opening up to more types of investors, the need for innovative products and specialist support has become increasingly important.
In his new position, Ghannam will be responsible for the strategic development and management of HSBC AM's real assets proposition. This proposition includes a suite of listed, direct, and indirect real asset investment strategies, covering infrastructure and real estate.
Joanna Munro commented on the appointment, noting that it is a part of HSBC AM's strategy to deliver specialized support in real assets. Ghannam's industry insight is considered valuable for the enhancement of HSBC AM's real assets platform.
Ghannam's impressive career includes co-founding 8F Asset Management, an impact-focused private equity fund manager, where he most recently served as Chief Investment Officer. Prior to that, he held leadership roles in alternatives and private markets at global firms such as Deutsche Bank and Argan Capital.
Ghannam's appointment reflects HSBC AM’s focus on scaling up its real assets business and leveraging Singapore’s role as a key international wealth hub. With over 25 years of experience, Ghannam is well-equipped to lead HSBC AM’s real assets proposition to new heights.
