New Model: 2026 Honda Ridgeline and Toyota Tacoma Face Off

The automotive world is abuzz with the upcoming release of the 2026 Honda Ridgeline and the Toyota Tacoma. Both midsize pickups are making waves in their respective classes, each offering unique features that set them apart.

The 2026 Ridgeline boasts a spacious cargo box of 33.9 cubic feet, competitive against its rivals. However, it falls short in terms of power and torque compared to the Toyota Tacoma, which offers a 2.4-liter turbocharged I-4 i-Force Max hybrid option. This hybrid engine delivers 46 more horsepower and a 203 lb-ft torque advantage over the Ridgeline.

The Tacoma also offers a longer bed option, although the 2026 Ridgeline's bed length is larger than that of the 2025 Chevrolet Colorado, Ford Ranger, and Jeep Gladiator. The Ridgeline, however, has a party trick up its sleeve - an in-bed trunk that adds 7.3 cubic feet of stowable volume under the rear floor of the bed, a feature not offered by other midsize pickups.

When it comes to fuel economy, the Ford Ranger's 2.3-liter turbocharged I-4 and 2.7-liter turbocharged V-6 have better fuel economy than the Ridgeline. The Chevrolet Colorado 4WD and Jeep Gladiator have worse fuel economy than the Ridgeline, but the non-hybrid Tacoma 4WD is roughly equal with a 19/24/21 EPA rating, similar to the Ridgeline's 18/24/21 mpg.

In terms of pricing, the 2026 Ridgeline's MSRP for the Sport model is $42,090, an increase of $445 from the 2025 model. The RTL, TrailSport, and Black Edition models also have increased prices from the 2025 models. Notably, the Ridgeline lacks any sort of electrification of its powertrain, unlike the Tacoma's hybrid option.

The 2026 Ridgeline comes standard with all-wheel drive, a crew-cab body, and one bed size. The Toyota Tacoma, on the other hand, offers more customisation options, including different body styles and bed lengths.

Both the 2026 Honda Ridgeline and the Toyota Tacoma have their strengths and weaknesses. The Ridgeline offers unique features such as the in-bed trunk, while the Tacoma's hybrid option delivers more power and torque. Ultimately, the choice between these two midsize pickups will depend on the specific needs and preferences of the buyer.
