Honda Cars India Exports 200,000 Vehicles, Led by City and Elevate

Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL) has achieved a significant milestone, exporting 200,000 vehicles to global markets. This remarkable feat is a testament to the growing recognition of India-made cars and HCIL's commitment to the 'Make in India' initiative.

The Honda City and Honda Elevate (marketed as WR-V in some regions) have been the driving force behind this success, contributing to 78% of total export volume. The Elevate, in particular, has been a standout performer, with international demand driving the final 100,000 units in just two years. This rapid growth reflects the expanding role of India's automotive industry in global supply chains.

HCIL's export journey began modestly, with the first 50,000 units shipped to neighbouring regions like SAARC, South Africa, and SADC nations. However, the company has since expanded its reach to 33 countries, with Japan being the largest destination, accounting for 30% of shipments. The Middle East, Mexico, and Turkey have also emerged as significant markets, with the Honda City being the primary model exported to these regions. Notably, the Elevate is the first Honda model to be exported from India to Japan.

Kunal Behl, Vice President of Marketing & Sales at HCIL, attributed this success to the global recognition of India-made cars and the dedication of HCIL's teams. He also highlighted the company's commitment to strengthening exports as a key part of its business and revenue strategy.

With 200,000 vehicles exported, HCIL has proven its capability to compete on the global stage. The Honda City and Honda Elevate have been instrumental in this success, with the latter's rapid growth reflecting the international demand for mid-size SUVs. As HCIL continues to expand its reach, it remains committed to supporting the 'Make in India' initiative and strengthening its export portfolio.
