Honda Cars India Exports 200,000 Vehicles, Boosting Global Presence

Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL) has reached a significant milestone, exporting 200,000 vehicles to global markets. This achievement reflects the company's growing international presence and the success of its export strategy.

HCIL's export journey began with the shipment of 50,000 units to SAARC, South Africa, and SADC nations. The company then expanded its reach to Left Hand Drive markets, exporting another 50,000 units to the Middle East, Mexico, and Turkey, with the Honda City being the primary export model. Notably, the Honda Elevate, marketed as the WR-V in Japan, was also a significant contributor, marking the first time a Honda model was exported from India to Japan.

The Honda City and Honda Elevate models have emerged as the primary drivers of HCIL's export success, accounting for 78% of total export volume. The company's commitment to exports has been further bolstered by the achievement of the final 100,000 unit milestone in just two years, driven by international demand for the mid-size SUV Honda Elevate. Honda's export portfolio now spans 33 countries, with Japan being the largest export destination at 30%.

HCIL's Vice President of Marketing & Sales, Kunal Behl, expressed immense pride in reaching the 200,000 export unit milestone, attributing this success to the dedication of the company's teams and robust manufacturing capabilities. Exports remain integral to HCIL's business and revenue strategy, with the company committed to strengthening this area while supporting the 'Make in India' initiative. The automotive industry in India has gained international recognition, with Indian-manufactured vehicles being exported worldwide.
