Hidroelectrica Awards $21.5M Wind Farm Maintenance Deal to Vestas
Hidroelectrica, Romania's state-owned hydropower producer, has awarded a maintenance services contract worth RON 99,782,280 (around $21.5 million) excluding VAT to Vestas CEU Romania SRL for the Crucea Nord Wind Farm. This move is part of Hidroelectrica's efforts towards hybridization and production optimization.
The contract, set to run for five years, covers maintenance of Vestas V112 - 3MW MK1a wind turbines, SCADA, PPC, and AEOS systems at the Crucea Nord wind farm. Maintenance activities include predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance, remote monitoring, spare parts delivery, and provision of equipment and personnel. This partnership aims to ensure efficient and safe operation of the wind farm.
In 2021, Hidroelectrica acquired the Crucea Wind Farm, a wind power plant with an installed capacity of 108 MW, marking the first M&A transaction for a wind farm by a state-owned company in Romania. Now, Hidroelectrica plans to add Li-ion battery storage to the Crucea Nord wind farm, with a rated output of 36 MW and a storage capacity of 72 MWh. Bogdan Badea, CEO of Hidroelectrica, stated that this contract ensures the consolidation of the operational performance of the Crucea wind farm.
The contract between Hidroelectrica and Vestas CEU Romania SRL is expected to enhance the performance and reliability of the Crucea Nord Wind Farm. This partnership aligns with Hidroelectrica's goals of hybridization and production optimization, demonstrating the company's commitment to modernizing its operations and embracing renewable energy technologies.
