Heidekreis's Potato Industry & Healthcare Set for Major Upgrades
The Heidekreis region is set for significant developments in its potato industry and healthcare services. Reinhard Vorwerk, chief editor of the local newsletter, reports that Heidesand Cooperative is bundling its potato business at the former Raiffeisen cooperative site in Neuenkirchen. Meanwhile, the future Heidekreis Clinic is planned to cost 278 million euros.
Heidesand, a Raiffeisen wholesale cooperative with over 1,000 members and around 200 employees and trainees, is investing 30 million euros in a modern packing plant for potatoes. The construction progress is on schedule, as confirmed by Heidesand CEO Klaus-Dieter Masselink and Lutz Büttner of BSB-Bau-Systems GmbH. The new plant will feature advanced technology for precise sorting, cleaning, washing, drying, and polishing, as well as automated packaging.
Upon completion of the first construction phase next year, a approximately 10,000 square meter hall according to the latest building standards will be available. This new hall will house the relocated potato business from the current site in the center of Delmsen. The new HKK is scheduled to start at the end of 2028, with the first phase of the Heidesand project expected to be available much earlier.
The potato industry in Heidekreis is poised for a significant upgrade with Heidesand's new packing plant, while the region's healthcare services are set for a major investment with the future Heidekreis Clinic. Both projects are progressing as planned, bringing modern facilities and enhanced services to the area.
