Global law firm X has announced 54 lawyer promotions to partner and director positions, effective January 1, 2022, in various locations worldwide. The promotions cover 11 practice areas, with the largest number of promotions in litigation and disputes (18 lawyers), followed by corporate, M&A and securities (10), banking and finance (9), and intellectual property (4).

In Europe, Veit Sahlfeld and Alex Zekkos have been promoted to the banking and finance practice area in Hamburg and London, respectively. Bernd Dreier has been promoted to the corporate, M&A and securities practice area in Munich. In the UK, James Lockwood, Annabelle Wheeler, and Matthew Buckle have been promoted to the litigation and disputes practice area, while Louisa Roe has been promoted to the real estate practice area. Helen Fairhead has been promoted to the antitrust and competition practice area in London.

Across the Atlantic, Fiona Henderson and Alberta Yan have been promoted to the corporate, M&A and securities practice area in New York. Jared Kaplan has been promoted to the corporate, M&A and securities practice area in New York, while Anna Rudawski has been promoted to the information governance, privacy and cybersecurity practice area. In the US, Rachel Chan has been promoted to the corporate, M&A and securities practice area in Hong Kong, while Daniel Ng has been promoted to the litigation and disputes practice area in Hong Kong.

In Africa, Paul Cartwright has been promoted to the litigation and disputes practice area in Johannesburg, and Rebecca Abou-Chedid has been promoted to the projects practice area in Washington, D.C. In Canada, a number of promotions were given to lawyers in various practice areas, including Robin Acworth, Veronique Barry, Scott Boucher, Brian Chau, Matthew Choi, Jenna Anne de Jong, Russell Dufault, Alison FitzGerald, Caroline Jodoin, Jonathan Lafrance, Brigitte LeBlanc-Lapointe, Jennifer McPherson, Brian Milne, Fahad Siddiqui, Joshua Sprague, Nikita Stepin, Tim Stewart.

The firm's goal is to have 40% women in overall partnership, leadership roles, lawyer promotions, lateral additions, and senior business services hires. Twenty-three of the 54 promoted lawyers are women, representing 43% of the total. Notable female promotions include Victoria Corder, who has been promoted to the litigation and disputes practice area in New York, and Claudia Posluschny, who has been promoted to the employment and labor practice area in Munich.

Gerry Pecht, Global Chief Executive of the law firm, praised the promoted lawyers for their industry knowledge, business acumen, and innovative solutions. The promotions come as the firm continues to focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion, with a specific and ambitious gender diversity commitment to achieve 40% women, 40% men, and 20% flexible (including women, men, or non-binary persons) by 2025.
