GLIL Infrastructure Adopts Net Zero Framework, Boosting Clean Energy Portfolio
GLIL Infrastructure, a £3.6bn asset manager backed by UK pension funds, has taken a significant step towards its net-zero goals. The firm has adopted the Net Zero Investment Framework (NZIF) for infrastructure assets, becoming one of the first investors to do so.
GLIL has already committed £3bn to a diverse portfolio of infrastructure assets, including renewable energy projects, battery storage facilities, and regulated utilities. Its latest investment was in a portfolio of 247MW of operational UK solar assets, demonstrating its commitment to clean energy.
The NZIF, launched in March 2023 by the Institutional Investors Group on Climate Change, provides guidance for infrastructure investors aiming to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. Beth Breen, ESG Analyst at GLIL Infrastructure, believes this framework will bring substance to infrastructure investors' net-zero ambitions.
GLIL Infrastructure's adoption of the NZIF shows its dedication to enhancing its work in the energy transition. With £3bn already deployed in infrastructure assets, the firm is well-positioned to make a significant impact on the UK's net-zero goals.
