Germany's Transport Ministry to Revise DFDS Ferry Contract by End of Next Month
The Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure is set to revise and publish an amended implementation agreement between DFDS and the government by the end of next month. The agreement covers ferry freight and passenger services, with 'explanatory notices' included to clarify certain clauses.
DFDS's in-house legal team is currently reviewing the contract for redactions and suggested changes. The new contract is expected to secure significant investment in passenger experience and freight service resilience. Examples of redacted information include DFDS's target return on equity and parts of the passenger pricing model.
The Economic Department Chief Officer, Richard Corrigan, has assured the Economic and International Affairs Scrutiny Panel that the contract will be accompanied by 'explanatory notices' to make it more accessible. Following DFDS's legal team's assessment, the Law Officers' Department will also review the contract.
Richard Corrigan expects the publication of the agreement to generate speculation and interest, but believes it will demonstrate a comprehensive and commercially appropriate contract. Meanwhile, commercially sensitive information such as Condor's committed fare structure in their failed tender to Jersey may also be redacted.
