Germany, Poland Boost Youth Exchange Office Budget to €7M
The German-Polish Youth Office (GPYO) has received a significant boost in funding for the coming year. The Bundestag has approved seven million euros for the institution, which is the most important for youth and student exchange between Germany and Poland. This allocation is part of the federal budget process and will support the GPYO's ongoing efforts to foster cross-border cooperation.
The GPYO, established in 1991, has a substantial track record. It has realised over 75,000 projects involving nearly three million young people. Annually, the office supports around 3,000 programs benefiting about 100,000 young Germans and Poles. The current budget stands at 11.5 million euros, with Germany contributing seven million and Poland contributing 4.5 million.
Dietmar Woidke, coordinator for German-Polish intersocietal and cross-border cooperation, has expressed satisfaction with the approved funding. He noted that this allocation will strengthen the GPYO's role in promoting cultural integration, cooperation, and innovation among young people from both countries.
The GPYO's budget for the coming year has been set at seven million euros, ensuring the continuation of its vital work in fostering German-Polish youth exchange. This funding will support the GPYO's ongoing projects and programs, contributing to the development of strong ties between the two nations' young people.
