German Waste Firm Under Investigation for Illegal Exports, Director Faces Arrest

A waste disposal management company based in Weiden i.d.OPf., Germany, is under investigation for suspected illegal waste transportation and export. The managing director faces an arrest warrant following a joint German-Czech investigation.

The company, operating from Weiden i.d.OPf. and Schwandorf, is accused of transporting waste to various European countries without the required permits and notifications since 2022. The waste included hazardous and non-hazardous materials like fiberglass, rubber, metals, glass fiber residues, plastics, metals, wood, paper, ceramics, stones, and electrical and electronic waste.

Investigators suspect the managing director of intentionally misclassifying waste to bypass notification requirements and export it abroad. Furthermore, they allege that the director converted waste into products and exported them without adhering to waste management criteria. The Public Prosecutor's Office in Weiden i.d.OPf. and the Customs Investigation Office Munich are leading the investigation.

The arrest warrant for the managing director follows positive investigative results from German-Czech cooperation. The company's alleged illegal waste transportation and export practices are now under scrutiny, with further legal action expected.
