German Railways Unveils Amerikalinie Route Expansion in Heidekreis

German Railways has revealed expansion plans for the Heidekreis section of the Amerikalinie route, drawing around 120 local citizens, including representatives, to an information event. The project aims to increase speed and capacity from the mid-2030s, with noise reduction measures planned to meet legal requirements.

Citizens of Soltau and Munster are encouraged to provide detailed information about their noise protection needs. This input will help determine if additional 'above-legal' measures are feasible and can be funded by the Bundestag. The railway is currently single-track and not electrified, with plans to upgrade these aspects in the future.

Noise reduction measures, such as walls up to five meters high, are planned to meet current legal requirements. However, residents are urged to specify their wishes and reasons for exceeding these measures. The city of Soltau offers a free weekly newsletter featuring local news articles, including updates on this project.
