German Railway Unveils 2026 Renovation Plan for Teltower Damm Bridge

The German railway company has unveiled plans to renovate the railway bridge on the Teltower Damm in Berlin-Zehlendorf. The project, set to begin in 2026, includes a redesign of the S-Bahn station and the construction of an emergency platform to maintain traffic during work.

The renovation is scheduled to finish by October 2029, with the Teltower Damm closed completely for around 125 days in total. The S1 line will continue running in 10-minute intervals throughout the construction, ensuring minimal disruption to passengers.

The longest closure, lasting approximately 80 days, is expected during the lowering of the road level. Despite this, the S-Bahn station in Zehlendorf will receive a third entrance as part of the project. The person responsible for developing the renovation plan remains unnamed in public sources.

The renovation of the railway viaduct at Teltower Damm is expected to improve safety and accessibility, with the S-Bahn station benefiting from a third entrance. While some closures are inevitable, the German railway company has planned to keep the S1 line running throughout the construction period.
