Food startup Koro sees its founder Calios departing, leaving vacancies in C-Level management.

Berlin-based food startup KoRo, initially established as an online drugstore for laundry detergent in bulk sizes, has seen a significant transformation over the years. Founded in 2012 by Constantinos Calios and Robert Schyska, the company underwent a pivotal shift in 2014, moving away from cleaning products and focusing on dried fruits, spices, grains, and superfoods.

Piran Asci, a then-working student and mathematician, played a crucial role in this strategic change. He joined KoRo as a co-founder in 2016, and his arrival marked a period of growth for the company. However, in mid-2024, Asci announced his resignation as founder and CEO of KoRo on LinkedIn.

Asci's departure follows that of Robert Schyska, who now runs his own tea startup. Interestingly, Asci bought out Schyska's share in KoRo upon joining the company. Despite these changes, Constantinos Calios, also known as Kosta, remains at KoRo.

The pivot to a food startup in 2014 helped KoRo find success with its new product line, but the departure of two co-founders may impact the company's future. The reasons behind the departures of Calios, Asci, and Schyska are not publicly known at this time, as no specific details or official statements have been released.

KoRo initially struggled to gain traction with its initial offerings of laundry detergent and cleaning products. The company's focus on food products has undoubtedly been a turning point, leading to a thriving business today. As KoRo navigates this new chapter, it will be interesting to see how the company continues to evolve and grow.

What did Piran Asci buy out from Robert Schyska when he joined KoRo in 2016?Finance and business decisions surrounding the departure of Piran Asci, Robert Schyska, and Constantinos Calios from KoRo remain unclear.
