SAS Flights to Beirut Set to Take Off Again! 🛫🔥

Flights from Copenhagen and Stockholm to Beirut, Lebanese capital, will recommence by SAS.

Good news for travelers! Scandinavian carrier SAS has confirmed that flights to Beirut, Lebanon's capital, will recommence from June this year.

The airline made this announcement in a press statement back in March 2025, citing "improving conditions" in the region as the reason for the resumption of services. Other European airlines have also made similar announcements, SAS mentioned.

According to Henrik Winell, SAS network deputy director, "We know that many of our customers have been eagerly awaiting the return of our Beirut flights. These routes are crucial for those traveling to see their loved ones, and we're thrilled to provide a direct and hassle-free connection once again."

All SAS flights to Beirut were suspended in October 2023 as the security situation in the region deteriorated following the October 7th Hamas terror attack in Israel. A ceasefire was agreed between Israel and the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah, which is allied with Hamas in Gaza, in November 2024. This followed intense Israeli bombing of Beirut and other parts of Lebanon last autumn, as well as a land invasion in the south of the country.

SAS will start its flights to Beirut on June 6th, offering three weekly departures from Copenhagen and two weekly services from Stockholm, which kick off on June 17th. The schedule is designed to offer flexibility and connectivity, with night flights providing convenient onward travel options to Northern Europe and North America.

However, it's worth noting that flights are subject to government approval, as mentioned in the statement.

This relaunch forms part of SAS’s largest-ever summer expansion, which includes 28 new routes across 17 countries. This revival of the Beirut route is a testament to SAS’s strategic focus on strengthening connections in Scandinavia while catering to regional demand.

Although no specific reasons for the 2023 suspension were given, the decision is in line with SAS’s broader efforts to rebuild its network post-pandemic and amid ongoing restructuring.

SAS's Summer Expansion 🚀

As of May 2025, the Beirut service is part of SAS's expanded summer schedule. The airline has been emphasizing sustainability partnerships and codeshare expansions, though these are not directly tied to the Beirut route.

The Beirut service will continue until the end of August 2025, but SAS has not given details about the operation beyond the summer season. However, this route remains a significant part of SAS's renewed focus on Mediterranean and Middle Eastern markets.

So, if you're looking to travel and visit your family and friends in Beirut, keep an eye out for bookings in June! 😄🛬
