FKS Raids Expose Illegal Workers and Employers in Bavarian Construction Industry
The Financial Control of Black Work (FKS) of the Main Customs Office Augsburg recently conducted a series of inspections on black work and illegal employment in the construction industry. The operation targeted multiple construction sites across Augsburg, Lindau, Kempten, Ingolstadt, Schwaben, and Oberbayern.
On a large construction site in the Kempten area, FKS officials discovered three Bosnian nationals working without the necessary residence permits. This led to a thorough investigation, with over 60 officials checking for proper employee registration, social benefit fraud, and minimum wage payment across 21 businesses. A total of 64 people were questioned about their employment relationships.
The inspections resulted in several serious findings. Proceedings were initiated against both the employees and the employer. An expulsion order and a three-year ban on entry were issued. Additionally, a fine procedure was initiated, and four criminal proceedings were started, with six cases still under investigation.
The FKS operation highlights the ongoing efforts to combat black work and illegal employment in the construction industry. The discovery of the three undocumented workers and the subsequent investigations serve as a reminder of the importance of proper employee registration and compliance with labour laws.
