Once originating as a woman-led bank in Salt Lake City, the transformed Redemption Bank is on its way to becoming the 24th Black-owned financial institution in the nation. Its strategic location outside of economically vulnerable communities and within the Rockies and Mountain West sets it apart, making it the only bank of its kind in the region serving minority-owned communities sparsely found between Houston and Los Angeles.

Enthusiastic to join this groundbreaking venture, the Garff Foundation welcomed the inclusion of Dr. Bernice A. King, daughter of the legendary Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., as an advisory board member and Redemption’s senior VP for corporate strategy and alliances. Dr. King's commitment to community improvement and reinvestment aligns perfectly with Redemption's mission.

"I had the pleasure of hosting her for a 2022 empowerment conversation for our nonprofit Success in Education, and witnessed the power of her genuine compassion for uplifting the communities she serves. Her integrity follows in her father's footsteps," said Katharine Garff.

"Redemption demonstrates vital steps toward realizing my father's dream of economic equality, and we are honored to be a part of ushering in this much-needed change at a time of considerable need," Dr. Bernice A. King declared.
