A fire broke out early Sunday at the West power plant in Frankfurt's Gutleutviertel district. Despite the incident, the public remains safe, and power and heat supplies continue uninterrupted.

The blaze engulfed around 2,500 to 3,000 tons of coal stored in the plant's silo. As of Monday, about half of the coal bunker has been cleared. The remaining coal will be gradually removed and cooled on a separate storage site, with the entire process expected to be completed by Wednesday.

Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing. Initial suspicions point towards coal self-ignition, with no signs of external interference.
