Financial deputy director rescues diver in Sakhalin region.
In a remarkable display of resilience, Elena Dorofeeva, a 63-year-old deputy director of a finance ministry department, was rescued after spending a day at sea following a diving incident in the Tatar Strait.
The incident occurred on August 2025, near Sakhalin Island. Elena was diving with a diver named Pavel, but unfortunately, they became separated when Pavel surfaced due to a lack of weight, leaving Elena alone.
Elena was carried approximately 500 meters away from the boat by the current. Despite the challenging circumstances, she managed to conserve her air supply, staying beneath the surface for 24 hours to avoid drowning.
The news of Elena's plight was reported by the Telegram channel "112". The search for Elena eventually resulted in her rescue by a vessel, which brought her safely to shore.
While the exact circumstances of Elena's survival remain unclear, typical survival scenarios in such incidents often involve having safety equipment like a flotation device or emergency beacon, being found and rescued by nearby vessels or rescue teams, and using survival skills to stay afloat and conserve energy until rescue.
In a separate development, the founder of the Russian band "Leningrad", Sergei Shnurov, has approved the ban on five of the group's songs, citing that they are not intended for underage audiences. The specific reasons for the ban were not disclosed.
In the wake of her incredible rescue, Elena Dorofeeva might have to re-allocate her finance to cover any medical expenses or investments in improved safety equipment for future diving expeditions.
Meanwhile, the sports world remains undisturbed as the founder of the Russian band "Leningrad," Sergei Shnurov, made a decision affecting only the music industry, banning five of the group's songs due to inappropriate content deemed unsuitable for younger audiences.
