Financial assistance of more than 6.5 million Dirhams provided to prisoners during the initial half of the year 2025 in Dubai.

In the first half of 2025, Dubai Police's Humanitarian Care Department, in collaboration with philanthropic partners and civil society organisations, extended more than AED 6.5 million (approximately USD 1.77 million) in financial and in-kind support to inmates in the city's correctional facilities.

Major General Marwan Abdul Karim Julfar, Director of the General Department, acknowledged the Humanitarian Care Department team for their continued efforts in offering comprehensive support to both male and female inmates, aiming to help them rebuild their lives and boost their morale.

The support from Dubai Police included paying off debts, covering tuition fees, medical expenses, housing rent, and issuing flight tickets for released inmates who wished to return to their home countries. The aid also funded humanitarian initiatives that brought relief and moments of joy to inmates on special occasions.

The primary goal of this aid is to assist inmates in rebuilding their lives, preparing them for reintegration into society, and promoting social cohesion. The support covers essential expenses such as debt repayment, tuition fees, medical bills, housing rent, and travel costs for released inmates returning to their home countries.

Last year, Dubai Police provided around AED 7.6 million in aid to inmates. This collective effort reflects a strong sense of solidarity within Emirati society, aiming to improve the lives of inmates and facilitate positive behavioural change.

Major General Marwan Abdul Karim Julfar praised charitable institutions, individual donors, and private sector partners for their contributions towards this noble cause. The Humanitarian Care Section, which is responsible for coordinating the aid efforts, also receives support from various philanthropic partners and individual donors, as well as companies and organisations from the private sector.

This news underscores Dubai Police's commitment to rehabilitating inmates and providing them with the necessary resources to reintegrate into society. The support extends beyond meeting basic needs, as it also aims to foster a sense of hope and optimism among inmates, encouraging positive behavioural change and easing the burdens many face behind bars.

  1. The financial and in-kind support provided by Dubai Police's Humanitarian Care Department includes funding for education, like covering tuition fees.
  2. To further help inmates rebuild their lives, the aid also includes assistance in travel, such as issuing flight tickets for those choosing to return to their home countries.
  3. Apart from essential expenses like medical, housing, and debt-related expenses, the support extends to areas like food and real estate, as Dubai Police has covered housing rent and may also pay off debt in some cases.
  4. The ongoing aid efforts also strengthen Dubai's general-news and sports sectors, as improved lives for inmates can contribute to a more cohesive and unified society, fostering positive behavior changes.
  5. In the realm of finance, the Humanitarian Care Department's efforts not only empower individuals but also promote business growth by encouraging the reintegration of inmates, leading to a more prosperous city.
