Fashion retailer GU, akin to Uniqlo, unveils partnership with design label Rokh
GU Collaborates with Rok Hwang on 'News in Style' Capsule Collection
GU, a sister brand of Uniqlo owned by the Fast Retailing Group, is set to release a new 22-piece capsule collection in collaboration with London-based designer Rok Hwang of Rokh. The collection, named 'News in Style,' will launch on October 18 and will be available at GU's New York store and internationally via the company's e-commerce platform.
This marks the second collaboration for GU, following a unisex, convertible line of clothes in collaboration with Japan-based brand Undercover last month. The collection, focused on womenswear, offers tailored separates and layering pieces, designed to mix and match and comes in muted colors.
The collection includes items such as trench coats, detachable-hem dresses, jewelry, and bags. Sizes for the collection range from XS to XL, and prices for the collection range from $24.99 to $99.99.
Rok Hwang is no stranger to collaborations, previously partnering with H&M on a limited-edition collection of convertible clothing for both men and women.
GU, which was established in 2006, primarily operates in Asia, with about 470 stores, most of which are in Japan. The company operates an e-commerce platform in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Japan, and it debuted its U.S. e-commerce operations on the same day as the physical store opening.
No future collaborations have been announced, but GU is actively seeking out new designers who align with the brand's values. As for the next designer collaborating with GU who represents values similar to Rok Hwang, no information has been provided at this time.
The first U.S. location of GU opened on September 19, 2024. The brand continues to expand its reach, offering fashionable and functional clothing to customers around the world.
