Extension of Tax Exemption for Agricultural Land Use Continues Until 2030

Vietnam has made a significant policy decision to extend the agricultural land use tax exemption until December 31, 2030. This extension, outlined in Resolution No. 216/2025/QH15, was recently adopted by the National Assembly and signed by Chairman Tran Thanh Man [1][2][3][4][5].

The tax exemption, originally stipulated in Resolution No. 55/2010/QH12 from November 24, 2010, has been amended and supplemented by two resolutions in 2016 and 2020 [6]. This extension prolongs the tax exemption established by the 2010 resolution.

The renewed exemption takes effect from January 1, 2026, and lasts until the end of 2030. The Vietnamese Government is responsible for issuing detailed regulations and guidance to ensure proper management and effective application of this exemption [1].

The tax exemption serves as a motivation for businesses to expand and renovate their investments in Vietnam's agricultural sector. The policy supports agricultural production by relieving farmers and agricultural businesses from the burden of land use tax on agricultural land [7].

It's important to note that the resolution extends the existing framework rather than introducing new conditions explicitly. It builds on prior policies, ensuring continuity in tax relief for agricultural land users [1][3].

In summary, the agricultural land use tax exemption applies broadly to agricultural land use, continues the government's long-standing policy to support the agricultural sector, and will be detailed further in government-issued regulations during the extension period. This extension is a significant step forward for the agricultural businesses and farmers in Vietnam.

The renewed tax exemption will encourage businesses to invest further in Vietnam's agricultural sector, contributing to the finance sector as more investments are made. This extension in the tax relief policy, initially established in 2010, reveals the government's continued support for the agricultural industry.
