Express Train "Wupper Rail" resumes operations once more

The Wuppertalbahn's extended train route, a result of years of preparations, made its historic debut over the weekend. The operation of the train on the museum and tourist route will now extend to Dahlerau, Vogelsmühle, and Dahlhausen.

The train's maiden voyage departed from the central station, journeying along the picturesque Wupper river, passing through Oberbarmen station and Beyenburg station. Upon arrival in Wuppertal's easternmost district, the train was greeted by hundreds of excited spectators.

The halt for the extended route will be located directly at the Staudamm of the Wuppertalsperre Radevormwald-Wilhelmstal dam. Approximately 250 passengers were on board the train for this momentous occasion.

The "Express" train shuttled hourly between Oberbarmen and Beyenburg throughout the weekend, offering locals and visitors a unique opportunity to experience the extended route. However, it's important to note that the extended route is not yet approved for regular operation, as some remaining work needs to be completed.

The chairman of the "Wupperschiene" association, responsible for the next planned expansion of the rail network, is Peter Gerigk. Ulrich Grotstollen, another key figure in the association, oversaw the necessary permits to operate the train on the museum and tourist route. A small inauguration ceremony took place, which included a speech by Mr. Grotstollen.

Board member Bernd Schacher emphasised that while this is a significant milestone, the extended route is not yet operational. The timetables and prices for the extended train route can be found on the Wuppertalbahn's website (www.wuppertalbahn.eu).

The "Wupperschiene" association also has plans to extend the train route in the future, promising more exciting developments for the Wuppertalbahn network. As the extended route becomes operational, locals and tourists alike can look forward to exploring new destinations along the Wupper river.
