A father and son, both residents of Kempten, found themselves in hot water after attempting to move from Bayern to Bremen with an overloaded rental vehicle. The move, which took place on the A7 highway near Bockenem in Hildesheim, North Germany, was halted by the police after a weight check revealed the vehicle was over 1,000 kilograms over its maximum allowed weight.
The vehicle, only permitted to carry 3,500 kilograms including occupants, was found to weigh a total of 4,900 kilograms. This overweight of 1,400 kilograms did not go unnoticed, and the police issued a minimum fine of 235 euros and a point in Flensburg for the overweight transporter.
