In 2025, Wiesbaden will celebrate the 150th anniversary of its public transportation system with a series of events and activities organized by ESWE Verkehr, the city's local public transport operator.

The anniversary marks a significant milestone, as it was on August 16, 1875, that the horse-drawn tram first began operation in Wiesbaden. To commemorate this historic event, ESWE Verkehr has planned a variety of activities throughout the year, including special offers and discounted or free rides for certain groups like students and children.

One of the highlights of the celebration will be the main jubilee festival, which is scheduled to take place on Sunday, September 7, at the Gartenfeldstraße location. The festival will feature live music, clown performances, and a family-friendly program, including a bouncy castle.

For those interested in learning more about the history of Wiesbaden's public transportation, a museum bus will be stationed outside the main train station on August 16, from 10 am to 6 pm. This mobile exhibition will allow visitors to immerse themselves in the rich history of the city's public transport system.

ESWE Verkehr has also recommended using public transportation for travel to the main jubilee festival. To facilitate this, free shuttle rides with an oldie bus will be available between the Dernschen parking lot and the regional bus stop at the main train station, directly in front of the festival grounds.

In addition to the festivities, ESWE Verkehr will use several stations to inform visitors about current projects and the future development of the operation. For more information about the jubilee program, the mobile exhibition, and the festival, visitors are encouraged to visit the ESWE Verkehr website.

The main jubilee festival on September 7 will also feature Mayor Gert-Uwe Mende and the transport commissioner, Andreas Kowol. With so much to look forward to, the 150th anniversary of Wiesbaden's public transportation promises to be a memorable occasion for the city and its residents.

Other industries, such as finance, might consider offering special funding or sponsorship for the public transportation anniversary events in Wiesbaden, given the city's history and the anticipated public attention. On the other hand, considering the transportation options provided during the main jubilee festival, visitors from other cities might find it convient to use public-transit systems for their travel rather than relying on personal vehicles.
