Essen's September 2025 Vehicle Registrations Surge to 375,203, Led by EVs and Hybrids
Essen experienced a notable uptick in vehicle registrations in September 2025, with a total of 375,203 vehicles hitting the roads. This marked an increase of 204 buses from the previous month, bringing the total number of buses to 496.
The city saw a diverse range of vehicles joining its fleet. Passenger cars led the pack with 301,342 registrations, followed by motorcycles, trikes, or quads at 23,945. Notably, there was a significant uptake in electric vehicles, with 12,762 registrations, accompanied by 15,863 gasoline-electric hybrids and 5,220 diesel-electric hybrids. Gasoline-powered vehicles numbered 221,166, while diesel-powered vehicles stood at 84,153. Trucks also saw an increase, with 21,152 registrations.
September 2025 saw a substantial rise in vehicle registrations in Essen, with a notable shift towards electric and hybrid vehicles. This increase in diverse vehicle types signals a changing landscape in the city's transportation sector.
