Entrepreneur Sentenced for Wage Theft and Embezzlement
A 51-year-old entrepreneur from Halle (Saale), holding Serbian and Bosnian citizenship, has been sentenced to a total of three years and eight months in prison. The entrepreneur, who managed a construction company despite not being its owner, confessed to 33 offenses involving wage withholding and embezzlement.
The entrepreneur employed workers whose wages were paid in cash and were not registered for social security. The total gross wages amounted to almost 1.12 million euros, with approximately 405,000 euros in withheld social security contributions. The entrepreneur fled abroad to evade proceedings but was arrested in Montenegro and later extradited. Despite the lack of a publicly searchable database for such cases, the entrepreneur's actions were brought to light and resulted in a significant prison sentence.
