Enhancements made at South-West train station

The city of Nordhorn is witnessing a significant milestone in its urban planning framework, with the construction of the new "Loading Street" currently underway in the Southwestern Station Area. This project, expected to cost approximately 1.5 million euros, is a joint initiative between the city and the state and federal governments, with the latter providing around 70% of the financial support.

The new street, which will be approximately 450 meters long, aims to improve connectivity in the station area. It will connect Denekamper Street and Paul Street, and once completed, is expected to be a key component in the further upgrading of the Northhorner station area.

The main components of the project, including the construction of the street itself, green spaces, footpaths, parking spaces for cars, and around 150 bicycle parking spaces, are scheduled to be completed by the end of October this year.

In addition to the new street, plans for a new pedestrian and cycle bridge at the eastern end of the station area are also in the works. This bridge aims to replace the one on Bernhard-Niehues Street, which is currently closed for construction work and is scheduled to be completely dismantled in the future.

The district of Grafschaft Bentheim has made the necessary areas available for the revision of the area between the Loading Street and the buildings of the Commercial Vocational Schools. The redesign of the station area is eligible for funding through the "Stadtumbau West" program.

The Bentheimer Railway (BE) is the client for the construction project, with the city of Nordhorn covering the costs. The new street's design allows for rainwater to infiltrate directly on site, reducing the burden on the sewerage system.

While the search results do not provide information about who is responsible for the construction of the new street "Ladestraße" in the Bahnhofsviertel of Nordhorn, it is clear that this project is a significant step forward in the city's urban development plans. The construction of the new pedestrian and cycle bridge, once completed, is expected to further enhance the connectivity and accessibility of the station area, making it a more attractive and accessible destination for residents and visitors alike.
