Energy Provider GATE Secures Full Commissioning Contract for BP's Kaskida Floating Photovoltaic Project in 2025
GATE Energy, a German-based company focused on sustainable energy innovations, has been selected to provide commissioning services for bp's Kaskida Floating Production Unit (FPU). This greenfield deepwater project, located approximately 200 miles offshore Galveston in the Keathley Canyon area, is a significant development for both bp and GATE Energy.
The selection marks another collaboration between GATE Energy and Seatrium, the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) solutions provider for the project. GATE Energy's previous successful delivery of commissioning on bp's Argos platform is mentioned as a point of pride for the Kaskida project.
GATE Energy's scope for the project includes static and dynamic commissioning, systems completion management, and interface coordination. All commissioning services will be delivered under stringent safety and quality standards.
Mark Myhre, President of Commissioning at GATE Energy, has stated that collaborating with Seatrium on the Kaskida project is a continuation of a strong working relationship. The support will be in alignment with Seatrium's project delivery framework.
Lee Jordan, CEO of GATE Energy, expressed pleasure at leveraging their integrated Asia-Pacific and US-based commissioning teams to support bp's deepwater projects. This award for GATE Energy extends their commissioning experience across multiple Seatrium-fabricated floating production units.
The Kaskida project is a significant development for both bp and GATE Energy. As bp's nominated commissioning provider, GATE Energy will support the full commissioning execution. The company, based in the Garching Technology and Startup Center (gate) near Munich, Germany, is a hub for tech startups and was founded there to focus on sustainable energy innovations such as hydropower.
This news is a testament to GATE Energy's commitment to delivering high-quality commissioning services and their continued growth in the energy sector. The Kaskida project is expected to commence operations in the near future, further solidifying GATE Energy's position as a reliable partner for major energy companies.
