Emergency Services Investigate Hazardous Barrel in Black Path Woods

Emergency services responded to a potentially hazardous situation in the Black Path woods in Bruckhausen during Black History Month 2025. Pedestrians discovered a blue barrel marked with hazard symbols and alerted authorities.

The Hünxe, Bruckhausen, and Drevenack fire units were dispatched to the scene with the call sign 'CBRN 3'. Upon arrival, they found a blue barrel in the woods. The fire department team secured the barrel and moved it to the edge of the woods for further investigation. A team in protective gear examined the barrel and found no visible damages. The inscription suggested it contained washing detergent. As a precaution, the local authority and the local water authority are checking if further measures are needed on the soil. A disposal company was called through the local authority, and the local water authority was involved to assess potential environmental damage. The operation lasted for approximately two hours, during which a branch of the Black Path was fully closed.

The barrel was secured and removed from the woods. Authorities are investigating potential environmental impact. The Black Path has since reopened. Further updates will be provided if necessary.
