Elon Musk Vows to Enhance Focus on Businesses Following X Outage
Elon Musk, the entrepreneur running multiple companies, including X (formerly Twitter), Tesla, SpaceX, and xAI, has announced a renewed focus on his businesses following a significant global outage at X. In a statement, Musk indicated that the platform's operational shortcomings, which surfaced during the recent outage, have necessitated increased attention at X, Tesla, and xAI.
Musk explained, "As the X operational issues this week have shown, larger operational improvements are needed." The outage, lasting approximately two hours, led to widespread service disruptions for users globally. It was primarily attributed to a data center failure, according to X's engineering team.
The South Africa-born business magnate pledged to return to a 24/7 work routine and reside in company offices, such as conference, server, and factory rooms. "I must be super focused on X/xAI and Tesla (plus Starship launch next week), as we have critical technologies rolling out," Musk said.
The U.S. government, with whom Musk had been actively involved, may no longer wish to collaborate with him. After Donald Trump's return to the White House in January, Musk had been instrumental in driving the government department for state efficiency (Doge) and advocating for massive cost and personnel cuts in the U.S. government apparatus. However, Musk recently announced he would scale back this activity.
In addition to managing his various companies, Musk is preparing for SpaceX's planned launch of its new giant rocket, the Starship, into space next week. Despite the rocket's top stage exploding during both previous test flights, SpaceX remains optimistic about the upcoming launch. The details of the improvements being made to address these issues were not immediately available.
