Elizabeth Klein Brings Decade of Public Service to Penn Washington
Elizabeth Klein, a seasoned public servant and academic, has taken up a new role at the University of Pennsylvania's Washington location, Penn Washington. Most recently, she served as director of the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management under the Biden administration.
Klein's journey in public service spans over a decade. She first served at the Interior Department during the Obama and Clinton administrations. Later, she held various roles under the Trump administration, including positions involving federal employee management and regulatory oversight.
In the Biden administration, Klein served all four years at the Interior Department. Initially, she was a senior counselor to Interior Secretary Deb Haaland, working on critical issues such as water policy and climate change resilience. Later, she took on the role of director of the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management.
Between her stints in government, Klein has maintained her academic affiliations. She previously served as deputy director of the State Energy & Environmental Impact Center at New York University School of Law. More recently, she was the inaugural director of domestic policy programs at Penn Washington.
Elizabeth Klein's extensive experience in both academia and public service makes her a valuable addition to Penn Washington. Her expertise in energy, environmental, and climate change policies will undoubtedly enrich the institution's programs and research.
