Economic analysis solidifies €191 million positive economic influence attributed to ICE and iGB Affiliate in 2025
In January 2025, the bustling city of Barcelona, Spain, played host to two significant events in the gaming industry: ICE and iGB Affiliate. These events, held at Fira GranVia, attracted a record attendance from 186 countries, resulting in 121,000 overnight stays.
The decision to relocate these events from London was made with the aim of evolving, growing, and offering a greater platform for connection and innovation. Clarion Gaming, the event organiser, collaborated seamlessly with partners at Fira GranVia to make this a reality.
The economic impact of these events was substantial. According to an input-output model, they generated a total of €191 million for the Barcelona and Catalonia economy. This includes the direct impacts, associated with organising, exhibiting, and attending the prime gaming events within the local economy, as well as the indirect impacts, the knock-on effects on the wider economy.
The direct economic impacts supported an estimated 3,100 part-time jobs. The average daily spend of non-local attendees was calculated at €449. The events also saw the participation of major international companies such as Betsson Group, DraftKings, and Kindred Group, showcasing advanced iGaming technologies, affiliate marketing solutions, and interactive gaming platforms.
The large international business audience played a significant role in the economic impact. World-class exhibitors showcased an outstanding cross-section of global gaming innovation, attracting attendees from around the globe. ICE and iGB Affiliate 2025 in Barcelona also generated exceptional exhibitor engagement.
Stuart Hunter, Managing Director of Clarion Gaming, made a statement about the decision to relocate, saying, "Barcelona offered us the perfect opportunity to grow and evolve our games, providing a greater platform for connection and innovation."
ICE and iGB Affiliate 2026 are scheduled to take place in January 2026, promising another exciting chapter in the growth of the gaming industry in Barcelona.
