East Germany's eco-friendly initiatives honored with the ClimaAward by ClimaClic
The climate lottery ClimaClic is set to recognize outstanding climate protection projects of non-profit organizations from eastern Germany through the ClimaAward this year, a prize worth 10,000 euros. Applicants from Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, Thuringia, Brandenburg, and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern have until April 30, 2025, to submit their applications through the official website.
Launched in 2024, the ClimaAward is an extension of ClimaClic, the first climate lottery in Germany. By purchasing "Clima-Tickets," customers contribute to climate protection and stand a chance to win up to two million euros. Organizations interested in the ClimaAward must first submit a funding application via the ClimaClic gGmbH website if they do not have an existing partnership.
Barbara Woerz, ClimaClic co-initiator, explains that the ClimaAward aims to celebrate projects that make a significant contribution to environmental preservation. The focus this year is on eastern Germany, inviting all eligible non-profit organizations to apply.
Eligible applicants must submit a project photo, organization logo, and a short video answering specific questions. The winning organization will receive a grant of 10,000 euros for their climate protection project.
The selection process involves the ClimaClic jury choosing the best four projects, which then move on to community voting among ClimaClic newsletter subscribers. The vote takes place from June 30, 2025, to July 10, 2025, and the finalists selected by the jury will be announced on May 19, 2025.
ClimaClic gGmbH has organized the first climate lottery in Germany for three years, supporting climate protection projects worldwide. By purchasing "Clima-Tickets," customers can support a climate protection project of their choice, with the company currently backing 50 projects in the categories of Environment & Resources, Education & Research, and Nature & Landscape.
