DirecTV Launches New Sports Streaming Service, MySports

DirecTV, the American direct broadcast satellite service provider, has entered the streaming market with the introduction of a new sports streaming service called MySports. The service, which can be streamed through the DirecTV app on mobile devices or platforms like Roku, Amazon Fire TV, and Apple TV, features 40 sports and broadcast channels.

According to DirecTV CEO Bill Morrow, the introduction of MySports delivers consumers greater choice, flexibility, and control. This move comes after DirecTV lost the exclusive NFL Sunday Ticket out-of-market game package to YouTube.

MySports customers will also have access to the MyFree DirecTV ad-supported sports channels. In addition, additional networks, local stations, and ESPN+ will be included in MySports at no extra cost in the near future.

The service is initially available in 24 metro areas, including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, the San Francisco Bay Area, and others. MySports programming includes national and local channels in select markets, as well as live news channels.

For those who sign up online for the contract-free package before Feb. 28, 2025, they can receive MySports for $49.99 monthly for the first three months, a $20 monthly savings. After the free trial, MySports auto-renews monthly, and consumers can cancel anytime.

Beyond MySports, DirecTV plans to launch several additional genre-based streaming packages in 2025 called Genre Packs. These include MyEntertainment, MyNews, MiEspañol, and MyKids, which represent smaller, more flexible linear TV channel bundles offered at lower price points compared to traditional cable or DirecTV’s Signature packages.

DirecTV has also introduced seven new multiview “Mix Channels” that allow customers with Signature or Genre Packs to watch up to four live channels simultaneously on a single screen. These Mix Channels are genre-based and include Sports Mix, League Sports Mix, News Mix, Business Mix, Kids Mix, and more. These Mix Channels aim to enhance user control and viewing flexibility across genres like sports, news, business, and kids content.

As the streaming market continues to grow, DirecTV is looking to expand its offerings to compete with other providers. MySports and the upcoming Genre Packs are just the beginning of DirecTV's plans for 2025. For more information and the list of initial launch markets, click here.
