DHL & Vitesco Team Up to Cut Emissions, Boost EV Supply Chain
DHL Supply Chain has partnered with Vitesco Technologies to enhance sustainability and efficiency in Vitesco's supply chain. The collaboration aims to minimise greenhouse gas emissions and bolster supply chain resilience.
DHL will manage inbound shipments from nearly 500 of Vitesco's suppliers, optimising routes and bundling volumes to reduce costs and carbon emissions. Pilot projects between the two companies have already demonstrated significant savings and enhanced sustainability through supply chain redesign.
Vitesco, a tier one supplier of electric powertrain systems and electronic control units for combustion powertrains, aims to run its business in a CO2-neutral way by 2040. Sustainable logistics solutions, such as those provided by DHL, play a key role in achieving this goal. Meanwhile, Vitesco is set to merge with Schaeffler, a tier 1 supplier, with completion expected in the fourth quarter of 2023. The merger aims to create a stronger tier one supplier for the EV sector and bring Vitesco under the same Schaeffler family ownership as Continental.
DHL Supply Chain's partnership with Vitesco Technologies is expected to bring substantial benefits in terms of cost savings and reduced carbon emissions. As Vitesco works towards its 2040 CO2-neutral goal, DHL's optimised supply chain management will play a crucial role. The upcoming merger with Schaeffler is also poised to strengthen Vitesco's position in the EV sector.
