Development firm Buwog plans to rent out 150 new apartment units
After a comprehensive renovation, the high-rise at Grunaer Straße 5 in Dresden, previously a GDR model project, is now home to 150 modern apartments as part of the SIGHT project. The building, which has undergone a complete facelift, boasts impressive views of the city's historic old town and the surrounding countryside.
Petra Langemann, Managing Director of BUWOG Real Estate Trust GmbH, expressed her excitement about the start of renting and the upcoming occupancy of the SIGHT project's apartments. BUWOG, which currently manages around 25,000 apartments and 250,000 square meters of commercial space nationwide, completed the renovation of the high-rise.
The apartments in the SIGHT project range from one to four rooms, with living areas ranging from around 31 to 86 square meters. All apartments feature modern vinyl design flooring in living areas, high-quality wall and floor tiles in bathrooms, and level-access showers for easy access, even for those with mobility impairments. An elevator serves all floors, making the apartments barrier-free.
HIH Invest Real Estate will take ownership of the building following the rental period, continuing the sustainable approach to developing modern living spaces in partnership with BUWOG. The spacious penthouse apartments in the SIGHT project have terraces and floor-to-ceiling windows, offering panoramic views from the 6th floor upwards.
The SIGHT project is part of a broader urban and climate solution initiative that focuses on deep retrofitting and energy efficiency. This project is linked to Dresden's effort to transform typical post-war and socialist-era building stock into high-efficiency, low-carbon living spaces. The renovated apartments are designed to consume low energy and produce renewable energy surplus, contributing to the city's goal of climate neutrality.
Renting for the SIGHT project has started, and the first move-ins are possible from 1 October 2025.
